Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh - A deadly confrontation took place in the district of Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh on Saturday, resulting in the death of eight Naxalites and one security personnel, according to authorities. Two additional security personnel were injured in the incident.

The gunfight began in the Abhujmad jungle during an anti-Naxal operation conducted by a combined team of security officers from four districts—Narayanpur, Kanker, Dantewada, and Kondagaon. The operation was initiated on June 12 and involved members of the 53rd battalion of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Special Task Force (STF), and the District Reserve Guard (DRG).

A senior police official in Raipur confirmed the ongoing firefight. “So far, eight Naxalites have lost their lives in the confrontation. In the gunfight, one jawan was killed and two more were injured,” he said.
