ISF Leader Ayesha Bibi Arrested in Sandeshkhali for Allegedly Setting Fire to Poultry Farms

According to an official, police detained ISF leader Ayesha Bibi on Sunday in the Sandeshkhali region of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on suspicion of her participation in setting local TMC politician Shibaprasad Hazra's poultry businesses on fire.

He said that other locals were also taken into custody by police for allegedly participating in mischief there.

"We have discovered that she was involved in the burning of a property during the Sandeshkhali protest. It is not acceptable for her to take law and order into her own hands. We are abiding by the legal procedures for this kind of activity," the policeman said to PTI.

But he refused to provide the precise number of people arrested for vandalism.

Situated on the Sunderbans' borders, approximately 100 kilometers from Kolkata, the riverine Sandeshkhali area of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district has been the focus of protests against TMC Shajahan Sheikh, who is absconding, and his supporters for more than a month due to accusations of land grabs and sexual abuse of locals.
