The Beetlejuice of Tim Burton The organizers of the Venice Film Festival revealed on Tuesday that Beetlejuice will open the event this year.

The sequel to Burton's beloved comedy-horror picture from 1988 will get an out-of-competition screening at the Palazzo del Cinema (Lido di Venezia) on August 28.


The Warner Bros. Pictures picture, which made its Venice debut, will open exclusively in North American theaters on September 6; overseas releases will begin on September 4.

The Beetlejuice Michael Keaton, who previously worked with Burton on the popular Netflix series Wednesday, returns to the title role in Beetlejuice starring Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, and Jenna Ortega.

Regarding the film's debut at the Venice Film Festival, festival director Alberto Barbera stated, "The Venice Biennale is honored and proud to host the world premiere of a work that features a surprising swing of creative imagination and driving hallucinatory rhythm."

Tim Burton expressed his excitement for his movie's global premiere at the esteemed festival as well. "This excites me greatly. Having this movie have its world debut at the Venice Film Festival means a lot to me.

From August 28 to September 7, the 81st Venice International Film Festival will take place. Isabelle Huppert, a French actress, will serve as the head of the main competition jury.
