Jamia Millia Islamia ranked second among Indian universities in Times Higher Education World University Rankings

According to vice chancellor Najma Akhtar, the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University has been ranked second among Indian universities in the 2024 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, published in London.

She said that the university had previously been listed at number six.

"This performance reflects the JMI's expanding global reach and presence, in addition to its emphasis on top-notch research, publications, and teaching. In the upcoming years, the university would do better, raising its standing even higher, according to Akhtar.

In spite of a significant increase in the number of participating institutions, the university has been ranked by the worldwide ranking organization for the second year in a row in the 501-600 band, according to a statement released by the JMI.

According to a Times Higher Education (THE) press release, JMI received the highest rankings for research excellence, teaching quality, an international perspective, and industry. The most thorough, exacting, and fair global rating is THE's World University Rankings 2024, according to the JMI statement.
