New Parliament Building Criticized by Some MPs as Too Opulent and Not Suited to Parliamentary Functioning

The new Parliament building in Delhi has been criticized by some MPs as being too opulent and not suited to parliamentary functioning. The Congress party has even suggested that it should be called the "Modi Multiplex" or "Modi Marriot".

The BJP has hit back, saying that this is an insult to the aspirations of 140 crore Indians.

Some MPs have said that the old building was more elegant and comfortable, and that the new one looks more like a glitzy palatial complex.

The Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the new building is "almost claustrophobic" and that the sheer joy of simply hanging out in Parliament has disappeared.

He added that he has heard from the staff in the secretariat that the design of the new building has not considered the various functionalities required to help them do their work.

It is important to note that these are just the opinions of some MPs, and that the new Parliament building is still under construction. It is possible that once it is fully completed and MPs have had more time to adjust to it, their opinions will change.
