A Class X student at a Khurda, Odisha, private English-medium school is said to have killed himself after the school's dean took away his cell phone.

His corpse was discovered hanging from a tree on the campus of the Seventh-Day Adventist Higher Secondary School, a well-known institution in the town of Khurda.

According to police sources, the school dean took his cell phone away from him on Thursday night as he was on a surprise tour of the dorm. According to sources, the school administration warned him not to do it again and assured him that his parents would be notified when the phone was confiscated.

According to sources, the student went outside the dorm room and is claimed to have hung himself on the school grounds from a tree after the dean had departed.

Press Time was informed by Principal B. Israel that "it is regrettable that a student of our school committed suicide." The deceased was enrolled in Class X courses.

When questioned whether removing the phone may be a contributing factor in suicide, the principal said, "Police are looking into it." Students are not permitted to use cell phones on school property. Only on Sundays are the pupils permitted to use their phones. He just arrived to the hostel two days ago from his home. Maybe he carried the cell phone from home. On Thursday night, the dean took his phone.

According to Dilip Das, the Khurda subdivisional police officer (SDPO), the corpse was discovered early in the morning by the school administration. An unnatural death case has been reported. The purpose of the inquiry is to determine why the student went to such lengths. One may do the action for a number of reasons. The choice to terminate a life is made spontaneously.

Das said that an investigation was underway into the claim that the kid committed suicide after the mobile phone was taken away by the school administration.

The coeducational school, which offers lessons for grades LKG through XII, is renowned for upholding the disciplinary ideals. In the school, around 880 children are readers. For students, there are boarding options. There are around 300 students living at the school's dormitory.

According to sources, the deceased was his parents' only child. His father is an officer in the Armed Forces of Odisha State. Despite being from the Gajapati area, the deceased's father is now stationed in Puri.

The police are also looking into how the youngster obtained the phone and if the administration warned him that carrying the phone to school may result in his expulsion for breaking school rules.
