Congress Leader Says 10,000 Civilians Killed in Gaza, Situation Horrific
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary of the Congress, called on Sunday that the international community impose an immediate ceasefire in Palestine, accusing the leaders of the "free world" of funding the "genocide" that has claimed thousands of lives.
She added that some 10,000 citizens had been slaughtered and called the situation horrifying, without mentioning Israel or any other free world nation.
"It is horrific and shameful beyond words that almost 10,000 civilians of which nearly 5000 are children have been massacred, whole family lines have been finished off, hospitals and ambulances have been bombed, refugee camps targeted and yet the so-called leaders of the 'free' world continue to finance and support the genocide in Palestine," she wrote in an article on X.
"A ceasefire is the very least step that should be immediately enforced by the international community or it will have no moral authority left," the head of the Congress said.
According to health authorities, Israeli airplanes attacked a Gaza Strip refugee camp early on Sunday, killing at least 33 people and injuring several more. The attack occurred as Israel said that, in spite of US requests for a halt to provide supplies to needy people, it would continue its drive to overthrow Hamas's authority in the region.
Even for short humanitarian pauses suggested by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on his current trip of the area, Israel has rejected the idea of stopping its attack.
