Indian student stabbed in Indiana, in critical condition
Assailant charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
According to a media report, a 24-year-old Indian student was stabbed in the US state of Indiana and is reportedly in critical condition.
Jordan Andrad, 24, stabbed Varun in the temple with a knife at a public gym in Valparaiso, Indiana, on Sunday morning for unknown reasons, according to NWIU Times. The investigation is still ongoing.
After the attack, the attacker was taken into custody and is being charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
"Varun was attacked by someone brandishing a knife. Because of the severity of his injuries, he was eventually transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was reportedly given a five to zero percent chance of survival. Following the violent attack, Varun's condition is reportedly serious, according to the report.
Andrade, the assailant, informed the police that he had gone into the massage parlor early that morning to get a massage and saw the other man, who he did not know but thought was "a little weird." According to a charging document, Andrade claimed he knew the other man was a threat and made sure to respond in the "correct way."
