Vice-president of the National Conference (NC), Omar Abdullah, launched the party's election campaign on Monday by accusing the administration of lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha of undermining the Assembly elections in order to rule Jammu and Kashmir like uncrowned monarchs.

Omar launched the campaign from South Kashmir's Damhal Hanjipora, subtly hinting to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) that it would not relinquish the seat in South Kashmir.

"Simultaneous general and assembly elections is what we desired." It didn't take place. It was sabotaged by the current Jammu and Kashmiri government because they do not want to give the people back control. After speaking at a party gathering, Omar informed reporters, "They are sitting like uncrowned kings."

The former chief minister hinted that the Sinha administration will not be in charge by stating that the Supreme Court has set a date of September 30 for the Assembly elections.

Speaking to party employees earlier, Omar accused the police of impeding the elections. "All political parties wanted simultaneous polls, as stated by the chief election commissioner, but our officers are creating obstacles by claiming they are unable to arrange security," Omar stated.
