According to them, the tragedy happened close to Unhani village in Kanina when the bus was transporting forty youngsters.

"Around 20 people are injured and six children have died," Mahendragarh superintendent of police Arsh Verma said.

According to the police, the driver was apprehended from the scene of the collision, and a medical check verified that he had consumed alcohol. Along with Hoshiar Singh, another school administrator, the police have also detained Deepti, the principal of the school.

Minister of Education for Haryana Trikha called the situation "very sad." "Treating the injured children is our main priority at this time," Trikha said.

Four pupils were rushed to the hospital after the accident, and one student who was placed on ventilator support passed away due to injuries, according to a doctor at a hospital close to the scene where 20 wounded children were transferred.

The wounded pupils were brought to a government hospital after receiving first care, he added.

Some bystanders heard the children's pleas and hurried to assist, removing the youngsters off the badly damaged bus. Reporters were informed by an injured pupil that the motorist was traveling at a fast pace. He thought the motorist seemed inebriated.
