Rahul Gandhi and Kishori Lal Sharma: A New Political Chapter in Rae Bareli and Amethi

In a big political move, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress party, has chosen to run for the upcoming Lok Sabha election from the Rae Bareli seat, which was previously held by his mother, Sonia Gandhi.

Kishori Lal Sharma is going to run from Amethi.

The Congress party said in a statement on Friday that Kishori Lal Sharma, who is close to the Gandhi family, will run for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat.
Sharma has been instrumental in managing the two prestigious constituencies in the absence of the Gandhis.

Nomination Filing and Election Dates
Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, its current chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be present in Rae Bareli during the nomination filing. Both Rahul Gandhi and Sharma are set to file their nomination papers on Friday, which is the last date for the filing of nominations for the seats.
The two seats will go to polls on May 20, in the fifth of the seven-phase general election.

BJP Candidates
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from Rae Bareli on Thursday. Singh had previously contested against Sonia Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls but was unsuccessful.
BJP leader Smriti Irani has already filed her nomination papers from Amethi.

A Call to the Gandhi Family
The Uttar Pradesh leadership of the Congress had earlier urged the Gandhi family to contest both the seats. The party ended days of suspense by announcing the candidates from the two seats early Friday.Party members have been talking about the names of candidates for the two seats since Thursday.
Traditionally, members of the Gandhi-Nehru family have held these seats.

Making Plans Began
Late last night, Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, posters and banners were brought to the Congress office in Gauriganj. This shows that plans are being made for the upcoming election fight.

This election season looks like it will be very exciting, and the political scene in Uttar Pradesh is about to change a lot.
