Arvind Kejriwal Announces Rs 7,000 Diwali Bonus for Group C and Non-Gazetted Group B Employees

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, announced a Rs 7,000 Diwali bonus for Group C and Group B employees who are not Gazetted.

November 6, 2023, New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated on Monday that all Delhi government workers in Group C and Group B—non-gazetted—will get a Rs 7,000 Diwali bonus.

The Chief Minister made the news at a press conference. He promised that all qualified workers will get their bonuses prior to Diwali.

According to Kejriwal, the bonus was a little token of gratitude for the workers' devotion and hard work in the Delhi administration. He went on to say that the government was dedicated to the welfare of its workers and would keep pushing for improvements.

More than 80,000 Delhi government workers will get the Diwali bonus. An estimated Rs 56 crore would be spent on the incentive in its entirety.

The Diwali bonus announcement coincides with the approaching Delhi Assembly elections. For a third term in a row, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration is running for reelection.

In the lead-up to the elections, the AAP administration has been unveiling a number of populist initiatives. The government has promised free bus trips for women, free energy up to 200 units, and free rations for all impoverished households in recent months.

The AAP administration has been under fire from the opposition parties for revealing its populist policies in advance of the polls. They claim that the government is attempting to purchase votes.

The AAP administration has defended its choice to unveil populist programs, however. The administration has said that the programs are designed to help the average person and that it is dedicated to the wellbeing of the citizens of Delhi.
