Kapil Sibal Mocks PM Modi's Extension of Free Ration Policy for Five Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement on Monday that his administration would prolong the free ration policy for five years was mocked by Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, who said that this was still necessary even after "ten years of Achche Din."

Sibal said in a post on X that India was rated 111th out of 125 nations in the Global Hunger Index as of October 13, 2023. Rank is rejected by India. Former Union minister Sibal left the Congress in May of last year and, with the backing of the Samajwadi Party, was elected as an Independent to the Rajya Sabha. Sibal served as a minister in the UPA I and II.

He's put out the non-electoral platform 'Insaaf' to combat injustice.

Speaking at an election rally in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, Modi said that the government will prolong the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which provides free rations to 80 crore impoverished people, for an additional five years.

"What the impoverished people worried about most during COVID-19 was what they would feed their kids... The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana was launched by the BJP administration after he made the decision to ensure that no impoverished person goes to bed hungry.

Under this program, which ends in December, thousands of underprivileged people are still receiving free rice and gram, but "your kid (referring to himself) who has come out from among you has chosen....The Prime Minister had said that the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, which provides free food to 80 crore needy people, would be extended by the BJP administration for a next five years.
