A Blockbuster in the Making: 'Jawan' Breaks Records Ahead of Release
Even before its official release, "Jawan," the much anticipated film starring Shah Rukh Khan, is creating a stir in the cinematic world. A recent report from the box commission dossier-following podium Saclink claims that the operation mystery broke all previous records by bringing in a stunning total of approximately Rs 40 crore via advance reservations. This amazing discovery includes the purchase of over 9 lakh tickets at major movie theater chains.
In India, the Atlee-directed movie "Jawan" has made almost Rs 25 crore from advance screenings alone since the dossier was last updated on September 5, only two days before the movie's scheduled September 7 release. through September 5, the movie industry had a significant ticket sale of around 2,80,000 through the BookMyShow app.
The Hindi-language version of the movie now rules the pre-demand list in India, grossing a whopping Rs 23.75 crore and selling 8,15,000 tickets. The film's Telugu translation has made Rs 46 lakh with 35,200 tickets sold, while the Tamil version has earned Rs 88 lakh with 57,400 seats already sold.
Notably, as of September 5, "Jawan" has sold 3,65,000 tickets in three of the major national drive-in chains: PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis. Over three lakh seats have been bought by PVR and INOX as a group, while Cinepolis has added another 65,000 tickets to the total.
The movie is poised to break the previous record established by "Pathaan," which sold 5,56,000 seats via advance reservations, perhaps setting a new record for pre-sales in Bollywood history.
Internationally, "Jawan" has achieved a significant success, selling tickets for an astounding USD 1.56 million (Rs 13 crore). With USD 600,000, North America leads the way or door in vessel pre-auctions, followed by one GCC with USD 450,000 and the UK with USD 225,000.
The movie "Jawan" is on track to become the biggest Bollywood debut ever, locally and internationally. Early estimates indicate that the movie may theoretically surpass the Rs 125 crore mark overall on box office appeal starting Monday, unseating the current record-holder, "Pathaan," which earned an estimated Rs 105 crore in January this year. Manufacturing experts in India predict a significant shortfall of Rs 65-70 crore nett.
