precious cargo: Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma with the T20 World Cup on board the flight back to New Delhi from Bridgetown, Barbados, on Wednesday.

The team that won the T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma will have a lavish welcome when they arrive in New Delhi on Thursday morning.

After taking off from Barbados' Grantley Adams International Airport on Tuesday evening on a chartered airplane bearing the special call sign AIC24WC — Air India Champions 24 World Cup — the winning players and support personnel are anticipated to land in New Delhi at around six in the morning.

Hurricane Beryl, which made landfall in Bridgetown on Sunday, postponed their departure. The day before, India had defeated South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup final. All travel arrangements were disrupted and flights were canceled as a result of the airport being closed for longer than twenty-four hours.

The IPL chair Arun Dhumal, secretary Jay Shah, and president Roger Binny of the Board are all traveling on the same plane.

"The group will meet at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's house at 11:00 a.m. The crew will next go to Mumbai, where a ceremony has been scheduled, according to a report from Board Vice-President Rajeev Shukla in New Delhi.

The team will take a dedicated flight from Delhi to Mumbai at 2:00 pm, after which they will march in an open-top bus from the National Centre for Performing Arts at Nariman Point to the famous Wankhede Stadium, which is 2 kilometers away.

The Board has decided to shorten the victory parade since the players would be mentally and physically worn out.

Similar praise was given to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 2007 World Cup-winning team, and the Board wants this one to go down in history as well.

Shah will give the squad the Rs 125 crore prize money at a felicitation at the Wankhede.
