Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor Address Online Trolling and Toxic Masculinity
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor got married on April 14, 2022.

On social media, Alia Bhatt and her family have frequently been the subject of cruel trolling. After a Vogue video of Alia went viral and she mentioned that Ranbir would ask her to "wipe off" her lipstick because he preferred her natural lip color, the actor's husband Ranbir Kapoor became the target of internet trolling. Following this declaration, their relationship came under heavy criticism, with many denouncing Ranbir and calling him "toxic."
Alia discussed how to handle these trolls in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, saying, "I have lived my life in the public eye." I was dismissive at first, then a little defensive. However, as I've matured, I no longer feel that I have any grievances. Saying something like, "Oh, I don't like what people are saying," doesn't look good in my current position. I won't argue with my audience, even though there are moments when you don't want to read negative things about you, your family, or your relationship. My target audience is those individuals who are writing these things. Therefore, when I say that I am thankful for all of the love from my audience, these are the moments when I have to express my gratitude, not just when everything is going well. As long as they are watching my films and I am entertaining them.

During a recent fan interaction, Ranbir Kapoor also talked about the controversy and the term "toxic." "Recently, I was reading an article about being toxic and something relating to some statement I made, and I understand," he said, elaborating on his position. I'm with you, listen. I stand with those who are fighting against toxic masculinity in whatever way you choose. Thus, I don't mind if they use me as a face because their conflict goes beyond my personal resentment over their interpretation of my words, Ranbir added. He continued by saying that he sees the big picture and is not sorry for himself because he feels like he has "lots to feel grateful about."
Regarding his career, Ranbir Kapoor's next film will be Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Currently, Alia is filming Jigra, her debut action movie. Vasan Bala is the film's director, and Karan Johar and Alia are co-producers.
