India Names New Players for T20 Series in Zimbabwe Amid World Cup Return Delays
Harshit Rana

Three players have been added to India's 15-man squad: Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana. The series begins with two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in Zimbabwe on Saturday.

They will take the place of Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will travel to Zimbabwe by plane after returning to India with the rest of the T20 World Cup winning team.

The winning T20 World Cup team was supposed to arrive in India on Monday, but Hurricane Beryl caused the airport in Barbados to close, delaying their arrival. Before leaving for Zimbabwe, the three are scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday night and participate in a felicitation event.

Rinku Singh and Khaleel Ahmed, who were on the World Cup reserve team, would probably fly straight from the Caribbean to Harare to join the team.

Rana played for the Kolkata Knight Riders, who won the 2024 Indian Premier League. The pacer was attending a training course for aspiring fast bowlers at the National Cricket Academy of the BCCI. Along with Andre Russell, he had the second-highest wicket-taking total for KKR (19 wickets at an average of 20.15).

After Surrey's match against Essex ends on July 4, Sai Sudharsan, who made his debut for his country during the tour of South Africa in December, will join the team in Harare. Surrey is currently competing in Division 1 of the County Championship.

Sai Sudharsan is making his debut for the India T20I team, just like Rana.
