Notorious Bihar Criminal Subodh Singh Brought to Bengal for Interrogation by CID

Subodh Singh, a criminal from Bihar who is allegedly involved in at least two dacoities in Bengal and has made extortion calls to multiple businesspeople, is someone that Bengal's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wants to speak with.

Singh was taken by the CID from the Beur jail in Patna on Sunday and appeared in court in Asansol on Monday. He was placed under judicial custody until Wednesday by the court.

While traveling to the Asansol penitentiary facility, the mobster allegedly threatened two of the CID's personnel, according to the Asansol police.

A police officer stated, "A case against Singh has been drawn up with Asansol South police station based on a complaint by the CID."

Singh's suspected participation in a number of crimes across the state, including threatening a realtor in Barrackpore after shooting at his car in Rathtala on BT Road two weeks ago, led CID authorities to say it was imperative to get Singh in their custody.

Additionally, on Friday, he allegedly made threatening phone calls to the proprietors of a restaurant in Barrackpore and a chain of restaurants serving biryani.

On June 20, Metro revealed that Singh was purportedly connected to robberies at two jewelry stores in Howrah, Domjur in Howrah, and Ranigunj, close to Asansol.

Additionally, Singh is the main suspect in the 2020 murder of BJP youth leader Manish Shukla in Titagarh's northern suburbs.

Barrackpore restaurant owner Tapas Bhakat reported on Friday that he got extortion calls from a someone posing as Subodh Singh.

Singh threatened to kill me in front of security personnel if he so desired. He claimed that Barrackpore-based BJP leader Arjun Singh had asked him to kill me, Bhakat stated to ABP Ananda.

"I own the recording. I've turned it over to the state government.

Singh denied the allegation and urged the authorities to investigate whether or not Bhakat had indeed seen Subodh Singh while he was incarcerated a year prior.

"To meet an inmate in jail, one must present an Aadhar card. Records ought to be present. Bhakat is currently being told to disparage me and associate me with Subodh Singh.

Singh is a resident of Nalada, and after his arrest by the Bihar police in 2018, he and his gang have operated out of jail.

According to the authorities, Subodh and his crew are connected to criminal cases in a number of states, including West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
