The key to Ravichandran Ashwin's 507 wickets in just 99 Test matches thus far has been his variety. However, Saeed Ajmal, Pakistan's former master of the game, believes that the senior India off-spinner's discipline is a noteworthy aspect of his bowling, even with his carrom ball, top-spinner, arm ball, and other styles.

A bowler must adapt and adjust in order to survive in the long run in international cricket. Even Ashwin has changed a little since making his debut (back in 2010). His move, for example, appears different than it did in his early days.

Getting more than 350 wickets in India alone demonstrates how excellently he has bowled at home, kitni zabardast bowling ki usne. When it comes to his carrom ball, Ashwin does a good job of keeping the line and length of the delivery. Although Indian tracks are known to be spin-friendly, accurate bowling is essential to capturing wickets there. The 46-year-old Ajmal, who claimed 178 wickets in just 35 Test matches, told The Telegraph on Tuesday from Lahore that Ashwin has been exceptional in that regard.

Ashwin didn't have to depend on the doosra to get to significant milestones, in contrast to a few outstanding off-spinners. That, Ajmal admitted, makes his achievement much more significant.

"In his early career, he used to try the doosra, as I recall. However, he quit bowling it because it was no longer perceived favorably. It is therefore significant to take so many wickets without the doosra.

"Regardless of the circumstances, a spinner can only be considered successful if he claims wickets. In fewer than 100 Tests, Ashwin has 500 of them! Ajmal stated, having faced Ashwin in six ODIs and three T20Is.

However, Ajmal believes that Nathan Lyon, an Australian off-spinner, has "a bit of an edge" over Ashwin. Lyon has primarily bowled in situations where there is only bounce and no spin. There, it is difficult for spinners.

Ashwin, on the other hand, has performed frequently at home, where the tracks benefit spinners. They are both fierce rivals, though, and if they maintain their fitness, I think they can both surpass the 600 mark.
