A sci-fi thriller from Amazon MGM Studios called "Mercy" will feature Chris Pratt, a well-known actor.

Timur Bekmambetov, who made his Hollywood film debut in 2008's "Wanted," which starred Pratt in a supporting role, will be directing the movie. Since then, he has produced films including "Ben-Hur" and "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter".

The near future setting of Marco van Belle's "Mercy" depicts a rise in capital crime. According to entertainment news site Deadline, it centers on a detective (Pratt) who is required to establish his innocence after being charged with a heinous crime.

Bekmambetov's Bezelevs, Majd Nassif, Robert Amidon, and Oscar-nominated producer Charles Roven of "Oppenheimer" will produce the movie under his Atlas Entertainment company. This project is Pratt's return to Amazon after the release of his 2021 film "The Tomorrow War" by the company. In addition, he starred in the studio's series "The Terminal List" on the Prime Video streaming service.

Jennifer Salke, the CEO of Amazon MGM Studios, said, "We knew the film was meant for the big screen from the moment Chuck Roven brought us Mercy and we read Marco van Belle's script."

As our collaboration with Chris Pratt from "The Terminal List" and "The Tomorrow War" grows, we are excited to see him bring this action-packed tale to life under the direction of Timur Bekmambetov and Chuck. We are excited for people to be able to see it in theaters and could not think of a finer star and filmmaking team to carry out and deliver what is likely to be an exciting thrill journey," she said.
