In Tuesday's Women's Premier League match at the Ferozeshah Kotla in the capital, Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by 29 runs thanks to the significant efforts of captain Meg Lanning (53 off 38 balls) and Jemimah Rodrigues (69 not out off 33 balls).

With eight points, the Capitals are leading the standings, while the Mumbai Indians have dropped to third. Royal Challengers Bangalore's higher net run rate allowed them to advance to second place.

Lanning's dominant innings provided her team with a much-needed platform, but Jemimah's blow was the catalyst that sent the Capitals to 192/4. Three maximums and eight boundaries were her final results.

After being reduced to 29/3 in three overs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur back in the dugout, the Mumbai Indians lost the plot in response. They managed to score 163/8 thanks to Amanjot Kaur (42) and Sajeevan Sajana (24 not out).

Brief results: M. Lanning 53, J. Rodrigues 69 n.o., DC Women 192/4 in 20 ovs. In 20 ovs, MI Women 163/8 (A. Kaur 42; J. Jonassen 3/21). By 29 runs, DC Women prevailed.
