Which goddess is worshiped on the first day of Navratri?
Goddess Shailputri

The nine-day Hindu celebration of Navratri is devoted to the adoration of Goddess Durga in all of her incarnations. During Navratri, a distinct goddess is worshipped on each day with tremendous intensity and devotion by her followers.

Goddess Shailputri is worshipped by devotees on the first day of Navratri. She goes under the names Hemavati and Parvati as well. She is the first manifestation of Goddess Durga and the daughter of King Himavan and Queen Menavati.

The image of Goddess Shailputri shows her riding a bull and holding a lotus in her left hand and a trident in her right. She is the epitome of strength, dedication, and force. She is also referred to as the goddess of the Mooladhara chakra, the base chakra connected to our sense of stability and safety.

Devotees worship Goddess Shailputri on the first day of Navratri in order to ask for her blessings for a fresh start, the ability to overcome challenges, and the accomplishment of their objectives.

On the first day of Navratri, you can worship Goddess Shailputri in the following ways:

Take a bath after rising early.  Dress in yellow, the color of the goddess Shailputri. In your house, set up a puja altar and place an idol or portrait of Goddess Shailputri there.
Present the goddess with sweets, fruits, and flowers. Recite the slogan that follows:

(Om Shailputriye Namah)

The Durga Saptashati, a revered Hindu scripture devoted to Goddess Durga, is also available for reading.

You can give your family and friends the prasad after the puja.

May the power, strength, and resolve of Goddess Shailputri bestow upon each and every one of us.
