Mamata Banerjee's Strategic Campaign Move: Rallying with Mahua Moitra in Krishnanagar
Mamata Banerjee, Mahua Moitra.

The loss of imprisoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be the gain of turbulent Trinamul leader Mahua Moitra.

In order to begin her campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Krishnanagar with Mahua, chief minister Mamata Banerjee has chosen to forego the INDIA event scheduled for March 31 in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.

For the second time in a straight, Trinamul has fielded the expelled MP from Nadia's Krishnanagar, who is among the most outspoken opponents of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The fact that Krishnanagar will be voting in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections adds significance to Mamata's traditional launch of her campaign from north Bengal.

According to several Trinamul Congress sources, two difficulties have been resolved by the launch date and venue selection.

First off, Mamata will not be present in the nation's capital for the coordinated protest event in favor of Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal. Mamata was a staunch supporter of Kejriwal following his incarceration and denounced the use of government agencies to target opposition leaders. Second, since the focus of her speech is probably going to be the alleged misuse of power by the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI, her non-attendance at Ramlila Maidan would not soften her stance against the BJP.

"Didi is going to launch an assault on the BJP apart from Krishnanagar. There's no prizes for supposing that the attack's major theme is the BJP's use of central agencies to target opposition politicians," the insider stated.

Mamata typically begins her campaign in the north of the state, which casts ballots before the south, during the state's multi-phase elections. According to several reports, the change from standard procedure was made in an effort to make a big impression at the inaugural campaign gathering.

On May 13, the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections takes place in Krishnanagar.

Despite the fact that Moitra prevailed in 2019 by a margin of more than 63,000 votes, many believe this contest will be more intriguing because the BJP has Amrita Roy on its ticket. Amrita Roy is a member of the Krishnanagar royal dynasty, popularly known as the "Rajmata of Rajbari."

"There is still a good amount of time before the elections in Nadia, but the polls in north Bengal will begin on April 19... According to a source, "There is a plan because Didi is still launching her campaign from Krishnanagar."

He claims that Moitra's situation, having been kicked out of Parliament due to the cash-for-query scandal, will present her with an opportunity to go up against the BJP, which is planning to use the alleged sexual violence incidents in Sandeshkhali as leverage to defeat the ruling party in Bengal on the issue of women's dignity.

After the cash-for-query issue, the saffron ecosystem turned its back on Moitra, who was subjected to misogynistic insults that were met with resistance from most Bengali women.

They insulted her, calling her names and even criticizing her clothing choices. A political expert stated, "The chief minister will not pass up the chance to remind the public about the BJP's treatment of a Bengali woman."

The observer continued, "The chief minister of Bengal is probably going to bring up how the CBI has been undermining her campaign by raiding her temporary election office on a day when INDIA bloc leaders are going to attack Modi for the ED's arrest of Kejriwal."

An early meeting in Nadia, according to a Trinamul source, would greatly benefit the party's organization for both the Lok Sabha seats in the neighboring district of Krishnanagar and Ranaghat, where the BJP has been progressively gaining ground by using the communal card. Ranaghat had been won by the BJP the last time.

Muslims were crucial to Mahua's win in 2019 because they helped her control sizable leads in the minority-dominated Kaliganj and Chapra Assembly constituencies. The insider stated, "The BJP is counting on uniting Hindu votes, and the district leadership is unable to handle the situation."

The source continued, "We are glad that Didi is starting her campaign from Nadia and that her presence can change the situation."
