Bas de Leede Says Team Wants to Be Considered a "Bigger Nation" in the Future
After surprising victories over Bangladesh and South Africa in the current World Cup, seamer all-rounder Bas de Leede stated that the Netherlands, a "bigger-nation," are requesting the attention of the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to their actions.
The biggest upset of this World Cup was first produced by the Dutch, the only Associate nation participating, as they defeated South Africa by 38 runs in Dharamsala. They bowled out Bangladesh for 142 on Saturday at Eden Gardens, defending a modest 230-run target, to produce yet another shocking outcome, this time by a comfortable 87-run margin.
"Every victory we achieve will be significant for both us and Dutch cricket. At the news conference following the game, De Leede stated, "We want to encourage young kids to take up the game."
