Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has expressed strong criticism of the team management following Pakistan's narrow six-run loss to arch-rivals India in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Naqvi stated that the Babar Azam-led side requires "major surgery" after their disappointing performance.

In the match against India, Pakistan chased an underwhelming 120-run target but struggled, consuming 59 dot balls and finishing at 113 for 7 in New York. Naqvi had initially believed that minor adjustments were needed for the team to start winning matches, but now he emphasizes the need for more significant changes.
He also called for considering players who have been sitting outside the team.

The losses to both the USA and India have been disappointing, prompting Naqvi to reevaluate the team's composition. As the PCB chairman, he assured that the board has done everything possible to support the players.
The World Cup is still ongoing, and Pakistan's Super Eight chances hinge on winning convincingly against Canada and Ireland, while also hoping for favorable results in other matches. Ultimately, net run rate could play a crucial role in determining their fate.
