Glenn Maxwell has taken an indefinite hiatus from the Indian Premier League, according to Ricky Ponting, who believes that the continual strain of being a star player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru has taken a toll on him.

The burden is on a few players, especially for someone like Glenn in that squad (RCB), who is one of the 'Big Dogs' alongside Virat. The outcomes don't usually follow them when they don't play well, according to Delhi Capitals coach Ponting.

RCB is ranked last out of the ten teams, having lost six of their last seven games. "In light of their performance in the competition thus far, individual players are also under increasing pressure. I discovered this morning on Tuesday that Glenn wishes to take a break, take a few games off, and attempt to recharge.

"Everyone is unique, don't they? The former captain of Australia stated, "Some guys would want to get going and push through that and get some runs on board, and that will change their way of thinking about the game... and some guys need to step back and have a break."

Speaking on the players' mental health, Ponting stated: "That's why one needs to be really understanding as a coach now that anyone who is around the cricket team, their health and well-being and welfare of the players is something you think about first."

According to Ponting, it's critical for coaches and professional players to have their loved ones close by. "Playing international sport often means being away from home, as cricket becomes more and more popular. The most important aspect of what we do, whether we are coaching or playing, is undoubtedly that you are removed from everything that brings you joy.

"I am fortunate to have my family here, and they have been for a few weeks now. Having spent a lot of time apart from my family, it helps ease the transition for me."
