Salaar Soars as Dunki Dips: Prabhas' Action Flick Nearly Doubles Shah Rukh Khan's Dramedy at Box Office

Even after both movies' daily box office receipts saw a sharp decline on Wednesday, trade records showed that Prabhas' Salaar remained ahead of Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki, earning twice as much on Tuesday.

Salaar: Part 1 — Ceasefire, which was backed by Hombale Films and helmed by Prashanth Neel, saw a 45.72 percent decline in receipts on its fifth day. Day 5 earnings at the box office in India for the film were an astounding Rs 278.90 crore nett, after Day 4's remarkable Rs 46.3 crore nett collection and Tuesday's Rs 25.13 crore nett.

However, Dunki—which is the first joint venture between Shah Rukh and Rajkumar Hirani—saw a significant decline in its box office receipts in India on Tuesday, falling short by almost 60%. With its focus on the idea of "donkey flight," or "dunki," the film made approximately Rs 10.25 crore nett on Day 6, bringing its total earnings to Rs 140.20 crore nett.

The dramedy stars Shah Rukh in a key role alongside Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Anil Grover, and Vikram Kochhar. The illegal immigration tactic known as "donkey flights" is the central theme of the movie.

With Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu, Shruti Haasan, Tinnu Anand, Sriya Reddy, and Easwari Rao among its stellar cast, Salaar delves into the transformation of two friends into arch-enemies. Day after Dunki, on December 22, the movie opened in theaters across the globe.
