TNPL to Implement Full DRS in 2023, Open Museum at MA Chidambaram Stadium
Only T20 League With Complete DRS Outside of IPL
The Decision Review System (DRS) will be used only in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) starting in 2019.
If this happens, the TNPL will be the only T20 league with complete DRS, aside from the Indian Premier League. Even other well-known T20 competitions like the Caribbean Premier League and Australia's Big Bash League do not fully utilize the DRS.
In domestic cricket in India, full DRS wasn't implemented until the Ranji Trophy's 2022–23 semifinal round.
"In the previous iteration, the only judgments that could be appealed were lbw and caught-behind verdicts. But starting the next year, wides and no-balls will also be subject to scrutiny. The entire DRS will thus be utilized at that point, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) assistant secretary RN Baba said on Sunday to The Telegraph. The league is managed by the TNCA.
Next year, the TNCA will also construct a museum on the grounds of the MA Chidambaram Stadium. "A portion of the museum will have memorabilia such as used bats, caps, and gloves of cricket players from the Chennai Super Kings, including Mahendra Singh Dhoni obviously. The TNCA will receive the remaining portion, which will include past and present players' bats, gloves, and caps.
It will be positioned directly over the pavilion. As of right present, the museum tour will be held on Saturdays and Sundays. The tour, which is being organized primarily to encourage kids to take up the sport, will be charged a small fee.
"Only the interiors need to be finished; the structure is complete. It should be prepared by October of next year," Baba stated.
