Abhishek Banerjee Challenges Amit Shah in Diamond Harbour, Urges Voters to Widen Winning Margin

In his Diamond Harbour constituency, Trinamul national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee urged voters to widen his lead in the Lok Sabha polls by highlighting his accomplishments. This occurred on the same day that Union home minister Amit Shah visited Calcutta to open a Durga Puja pandal in the city's center.

On Monday, Abhishek stated unequivocally that his goal was to boost his Diamond Harbour winning margin from 3.21 lakh in 2019 to 4 lakh in 2024.

In 2014, I won with 71,000 votes. In 2019, the margin was 3,21,000... "This time, I implore the voters to increase the margin to 4 lakh," Abhishek declared.

Speaking to the group during a Puja "gift" distribution event, the Member of Parliament for Diamond Harbour made light of the BJP's attempts to unseat him in 2019.

To beat me, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stayed at Diamond Harbour for more than a month. They made a door-to-door tour. "I will lose the election," Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared during events, according to Abhishek.

Insiders from Trinamul said that on a day when Shah was in the city, Abhishek essentially opened his campaign for the Lok Sabha elections by urging people to expand his margin of victory.

"Abhishek clearly threw Shah a challenge," a Trinamul leader declared.

"Political outsiders who lied to the world saying Bengal did not celebrate Durga Puja visited the state today (Monday) to inaugurate a Durga Puja," Abhishek continued, without naming anyone. This is the triumph of truth and the strength of Bengali culture and tradition."

In 2019, during the opening of a Durga Puja in the Salt Lake area of Calcutta, Shah mentioned an incident from 2017 and mentioned that there was a period when "people had to move the high court" in order to immerse the Durga idol.

In 2017, on September 30, the day of Vijaya Dashami, chief minister Mamata Banerjee first limited idol immersion until 10 p.m. and discontinued immersion on Muharram. The verdict was contested in three petitions that were submitted to the Calcutta High Court. The state government's judgment was subsequently overturned by the supreme court.

In support of his assertion that he would widen his lead in the 2024 election, Abhishek enumerated the projects he started while serving as an MP during the previous five years. He asserted that by presenting a report card that demonstrated his "work for the people," he was the only member of parliament in the nation.

Abhishek mentioned the work done in the constituency during the Covid-19 pandemic while highlighting the steps he had taken to assist regular people.

"During the Covid pandemic, our volunteers provided food to the public. In Diamond Harbour, 50,000 Covid tests were reported. In just seven days, the number of patients impacted by COVID-19 dropped from 12% to 2%, according to Abhishek.

Additionally, Abhishek highlighted the development initiatives he spearheaded while serving as Diamond Harbour's MP.

"In the nine years since my election, road development projects of Rs 500 crore have been completed here in my constituency. The Falta-Mathurapur drinking water project, one of the biggest water projects, would be finished in the next six to eight months and will cost Rs. 1,00 crore. "I am personally investigating the project," stated Abhishek.

Shortly after Durga Puja on November 1, Abhishek hinted that Trinamul will begin a broader movement against the Centre.

"Earlier this month, we were hauled from Delhi's Krishi Bhavan because we were demanding our just compensation for MGNREGA from the Central government. The Minister of State (Niranjan Jyoti) failed to show there and fled by the rear entrance after keeping us waiting for three hours. We had a five-day dharna and protested in front of Raj Bhavan before meeting with the governor, C.V. Ananda Bose. This was just a teaser. Beginning on November 1st, the entire film will be screened, stated Abhishek.
