Opposition Parties Criticize Trinamul Over Duttapukur Blast, Calls for Probe and Political Accusations Arise

Trinamul is criticized by opposition parties over the Duttapukur blast; calls for an investigation and a political blame game are made.

Following the terrible Duttapukur explosion, Bengal's opposition parties attacked the governing Trinamul party without delay. The state BJP immediately requested that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conduct an investigation into the event from Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In the meanwhile, the Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Trinamul traded rhetorical blows, each accusing the other of being responsible for the explosion. The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's pledge to shut down illicit fireworks companies has been criticized by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) as an ineffectual effort.

Sukanta Majumdar, the head of the BJP's state unit, argued for a comprehensive NIA inquiry that would cover all relevant elements, including the potential for terrorism-related actions, in a letter sent to Shah. Majumdar emphasized the need of giving explanations, justice, and guarantees to the impacted communities and relatives of the victims that similar occurrences would not happen again. He made it clear that taking this move will not only clear up the problem but also inspire public trust in the government's dedication to national security.

"At least six to seven people," according to Majumdar, have died, however there is a chance the number might rise. The Leader of the Opposition and Majumdar's coworker Suvendu Adhikari said on Twitter that the number will probably exceed 10. Adhikari mentioned the Egra explosion in May, which led to the state promising to control the firecracker industry, and called it a "publicity stunt."

Adhikari expressed doubt about the government's effectiveness in its reaction, saying, "They won't take any action this time either." These unlawful explosive production facilities are in line with the aims of the TMC party. The TMC thugs won't stand for any regulation or oversight.

Sujan Chakraborty, a member of the CPM's central committee, expressed similar views. Chakraborty emphasized that similar instances followed the Egra bomb in Malda and Budge Budge, with the Duttapukur blast being the most recent to join the list. These explosions, according to Chakraborty, often happened as a consequence of manufacturers disguising the creation of firecrackers as raw materials for crude explosives.

Under Mamata's direction, cabinet minister Rathin Ghosh was charged for having knowledge of the unlawful factory. He said that the factory gave the ISF munitions. Nawsad Siddique, the ISF chairman and MLA for Bhangar, responded by calling for an NIA inquiry and requesting that Ghosh be questioned by the organization. A BJP team went to the explosion site, headed by Falguni Patra, head of the women's wing of the state unit. Additionally, Governor C.V. Ananda Bose traveled to Duttapukur.

According to Kunal Ghosh, the general secretary of Trinamul in the state, individuals who died in the Egra bomb were forced into dangerous labor since there weren't enough openings under the BJP-led Center's 100-day work program, which had its finances suspended. Additionally, according to Ghosh, Adhikari's assistant was the main suspect in the Egra bombing.
