Alleged Retaliatory Waste Dumping by KMC Collectors in Kolkata’s Beleghata

On Thursday, waste collectors from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) are said to have thrown mountains of trash outside the gates of a housing complex in Beleghata. Motive: To get revenge for the rumored fact that a large number of apartment dwellers supported the opposition Trinamool Congress during the Lok Sabha polls.

On Saturday, a video showing trash collectors throwing mountains of trash outside a housing complex went viral on WhatsApp.

The housing complex's councilman, Sachin Singh, acknowledged that the rubbish had been disposed of, but he denied that Trinamool members had any role.

"From this ward, we have won by a significant margin. Why would we act in this manner? Singh remarked on Saturday night, "I have friends in that apartment."

"On Thursday night, as soon as I learned about the event, I headed there. I made certain that the trash was collected early on Friday.

Speaking on the Saturday event, Mayor Firhad Hakim stated that he was against such behavior. "Everyone is free to cast any kind of vote they like. This is incorrect. He said, "Will dumping waste make them vote for us?"

CCTV footage from Friday shows guys riding motorcycles tossing something early on Thursday morning towards the gate of a high-rise building in Bhowanipore.

In the video, three males can be seen riding up to the building on Bhowanipore's Chakraberia Road. While the third one sprang off the bike and began removing what seemed to be bottles from a white bag, the other two had their faces hidden.

Numerous residents in the neighborhood claimed to have suspicions that it was the work of nearby Trinamool members.
