BCCI Announces IPL 2024 Final Venue and Schedule; CSK to Host Kolkata Knight Riders in Opening Match
Chennai Super Kings and Other Teams' Fixtures Revealed for Second Half of Tournament
The BCCI announced on Monday that Chennai will host the IPL 2024 championship on May 26. The home field of the reigning IPL champion Chennai Super Kings, the MA Chidambaram Stadium, has played host to the IPL finals in 2011 and 2012.
On May 24, Chennai will also play host to the second qualifier. Ahmedabad will host the first qualifying on May 21 and the eliminator on May 22.
The 52-match second half of the IPL calendar, which includes the playoffs, kicks off on April 8 in Chennai when CSK takes on Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Knights will then visit Eden Gardens for five straight games.
There are two groups of five teams each made up of the ten teams. Every squad plays the other four teams in their group twice, the other four teams in the opposing group once, and the last team from the opposing group, which is determined by a tie, twice.
CSK is in the same group as Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The Indians from Mumbai make up the second group. The Delhi Capitals, KKR, Rajasthan Royals, and Lucknow Super Giants.
According to the calendar, the Punjab Kings' customary second location, Dharamsala, would host a few games. The Punjab franchise's home games against CSK on May 5 and RCB on May 9 will be held at the HPCA Stadium.
The preferred second base of the Rajasthan Royals, Guwahati, hosts two games. The final league game of the season is against KKR on May 19 and Punjab Kings on May 15.
On May 12, CSK will host the Royals in their final home game. On May 18, they will play their final league game at Bangalore. Mahendra Singh Dhoni's games in Chennai and the IPL could be his final ones if they don't advance to the playoffs.
