According to Brian Lara, his competitive spirit is what has helped him rise to fame.
The former West Indies captain said at Infocom 2023, an ABP initiative, that he developed a competitive nature at a very young age.
He declared, "I am very competitive." "Even at an early age, I aspired to outperform my rivals... Always aspired to the top. Without being competitive, it's hard to accomplish anything, Lara stated.
Lara doesn't want to take much credit for his accomplishments, even though his 400 not out and undefeated 501 stand as the highest individual scores in Test and first-class cricket, respectively.
"It just happened; it was destiny." It was merely a chance, and I took it. Not anything to take pride in. Hopefully, one day, someone will break it," Lara remarked.
In his opinion, the ODI World Cup has demonstrated that this format is still relevant in the era of T20 cricket and franchise leagues.

"And he's such a bright example in all aspects of his life, not just on the cricket field... And it was amazing to witness.
"I hope that India can keep playing the wonderful brand of cricket that they are."
