Kieran Trippier Says Jude Bellingham Could Provide the Spark England Need Against Italy
Defender Lauds Young Midfielder's Maturity, Quality, and Aggression
Before England's Euro 2024 qualifying match against Italy, defender Kieran Trippier suggested that Jude Bellingham might provide his team the spark they need.
Since joining Real Madrid during the off-season transfer window, Bellingham has been in incredible form, netting 10 goals in his first ten starts across all competitions.
Telling reporters, "He can be the difference," Trippier said. "He's terrifying at such a young age because of his maturity, quality, and aggression. The standards he has established in Madrid are not surprising at all.
It's evident that he's playing freely, and the players surrounding him will only help him get better. He's only twenty years old, which is terrifying."
After the 2018 World Cup, Trippier continued, "We lost in the Euros final, but the most important thing is we're progressing and doing very well." He said that the England team had made "massive steps" since then.
"We've got goals from all over the pitch and Jude, Madders (James Maddison), Bukayo (Saka), Phil (Foden) are still young but can all change games in certain moments."
Trippier also stood up for colleague Jordan Henderson, who after joining Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq on Friday was jeered by England supporters during the team's 1-0 friendly victory over Australia.
Trippier remarked, "As players, we stick together."
