ED raids TMC minister Jyotipriyo Mallick’s house in ration scam probe
The central agency is investigating an alleged multi-crore scam in the distribution of ration in West Bengal
In connection with an ongoing investigation into the alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam, West Bengal minister Jyotipriyo Mallick's house was searched by Enforcement Directorate (ED) agents early on Thursday morning, according to an officer.
With the help of a group of central troops, the ED slueths stormed two flats owned by Mallick, the state minister for forests at the moment, in the Salt Lake neighborhood of Calcutta, he said.
He stated that eight additional apartments, including the homes of Mallick's previous personal assistant when he was the Food minister, were also the subject of search operations.
"The minister wasn't there when the raid happened. His phone was taken away from him when he arrived later. Inside are eight cops. Along with a few other locations, we are also searching the Dum Dum home of his former personal assistant," the ED official told PTI.
According to the officer, the central inquiry agency has already detained one individual who is supposedly closely connected to both Mallick and the governing Trinamul Congress.
