The Election Commission of India realized that the terms of the Assemblies in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim expire on June 2, therefore it moved up the date of the vote counting to that day on Sunday.

On April 19, both states will cast ballots.

On June 4, as scheduled, votes in the Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim parliamentary constituencies will be tallied.

It is legally required of the EC to finish the election process prior to the legislature's terms ending. Additionally, it cannot release the results while polling in any other state is ongoing because it can sway voters and election authorities in an unfavorable way.

The EC is depending on the fact that the seats in these two states have fewer voters because of their lower-than-average population density, so counting for the two Assemblies has been scheduled for the very following day. The seventh round of polling is on June 1.

Due to the fact that the Mizoram Assembly elections were originally set for a Sunday, which is a holy day for the state with a majority of Christians, the vote counting process had to be postponed last year.
