England vs. Netherlands: A Match of Underdogs and Opportunities

Since England has been playing so badly, it wouldn't be a stretch to suggest that the Netherlands will be the underdog when the two sides play on Wednesday.

The Dutch are ahead of Jos Buttler's squad in the rankings for a reason. The situation for England has become worse, and a loss to their rivals in Europe would be much more embarrassing.

But if they decide to patch things up, there will be incentive. England may still qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy even if they are no longer in the running for the semifinals if they place among the top seven in the Cup.

With two victories under their belt, the Dutch will attempt the same thing.

England's batting team has been a complete failure. Joe Root's renowned consistency has also failed him, while openers Jonny Bairstow and David Malan have failed to provide the type of start that was anticipated of them. Both big-hitter Liam Livingstone and captain Jos Buttler are dreadfully off of form. England's hitters must produce if they are to win.

The Dutch will be eager to profit from that location. Captain Scott Edwards has proved that he can wisely use his resources, and his bowlers have shown that they can play with discipline. However, their batting is concerning.
