Protecting the Champions England's World Cup campaign came to an end on Saturday when they lost to Australia by 33 runs.

Australia recovered from a 33-run deficit to win by 33 runs, their fifth straight victory that kept them in the running for a semi-final berth. Adam Zampa produced three timely strikes in the middle overs.

Despite failing to convert their early leads, Australia's hitters managed to score 286 runs. Marnus Labuschagne achieved his best score of the competition with 71 out of 83.

England had a strong chance to win after suffering four straight defeats. Batting alongside Dawid Malan (50 off 64) and Moeen Ali (42 off 43), Ben Stokes (64 off 90) kept the chase alive until Zampa delivered the decisive blows to reduce England to 253 in 48.1 overs.

It stings a lot. Without a doubt, we haven't done ourselves justice. wished to give it my all. It was very difficult to hit the 2019 highs. After the game, England captain Jos Buttler said, "I feel like we've let people down."

Before dismissing Stokes, Zampa had the out-of-form Buttler (1) caught in the deep. Stokes eventually offered Stoinis a straightforward catch at short-fine leg after the ball was short on the leg side.

When Moeen's slog sweep off Zampa fell squarely into David Warner's hands at deep mid-wicket, it was all over for England.

The English hitters, such as Stokes, Moeen, and Malan, did display their trademark strokeplay, but they were unable to sustain it long enough to help their team win.

Mitchell Starc, a left-arm pacer, received the ball to swing during the Powerplay. In the opening ball of the England innings, he was lucky to get a slight edge on a ball that was swinging down the leg-side to Jonny Bairstow.

Starc set up Joe Root with a series of inswingers, and the England No. 3 took the lead when he pushed one wide.

Labuschange, Marcus Stoinis (35 off 32), Steve Smith (44 off 52), and Cameron Green (47 off 52) were some of the batters who did not make the most of their starts earlier.

Marsh will return.

Two days prior to their match against Afghanistan, on Sunday in Mumbai, Australia's Mitchell Marsh, an all-rounder, will rejoin the team, according to Cricket Australia. He had taken a plane back home after his grandmother passed away.
