Premier League Title Race Goes Down to the Wire: City Seeks Record Fourth, Arsenal Chases First in 20 Years

On Sunday, the Premier League trophies will remain the same at the Emirates and Etihad Stadiums. That's the situation on the last day of the season, which, depending on how things turn out, promises a suspenseful blockbuster finale.

Before Sunday's last round of games, Manchester City leads Arsenal by two points. If Pep Guardiola's team defeats West Ham United at home in the Eithad Stadium, they would have won the Premier League for a record four times in a row.

But if they falter, as long as they defeat Everton, the Gunners will host the celebration at the Emirates. Once Arsenal wins, even a draw with City might suffice because Mikel Arteta's team has a better goal differential.

Guardiola and Arteta are both aware that the finish will be tight.

The City manager predicted it to be just as exciting as the last day of the 2021–22 season, when his team was on the verge of losing the championship before goals in the dying minutes won it. However, Arteta is adamant and has pushed his team to persevere until the very last whistle. He thinks that anything is possible, as Arsenal aspires to win their first league championship in twenty years.

In May 2022, City had defeated Liverpool by a single point to win the title, but Guardiola's team created difficulties for themselves by falling behind Aston Villa 2-0 at home before rallying for a 3-2 victory.

"I feel like it will be similar to the Aston Villa match once more." After ten minutes, we would like to be up three goals, but that is not going to happen. I've watched enough West Ham games," Guardiola said to the media.

"I'm prepared for an extremely difficult game. "Look at Tottenham, how they fight for every ball, the aggression they had," is something I want my players to remember. West Ham's eleven players will be primed to defeat us. To be with us and complete the task at hand, we and our people must be prepared from the outset.

Arteta concurs that West Ham will be a challenge to City. Arteta had previously played for Everton under current West Ham boss David Moyes. His former boss will need to do him a favor.

"He might be able to assist us realize our dream of winning the Premier League, as well as my own dream. That would be incredible and I would remember it forever," Arteta was cited by arsenal.com.

"Beating any opponent in the Premier League is a really tough task, and it gets even harder when there is something on the line." That's undoubtedly beyond our control. Everyone is aware that the City is getting a little bit closer. But they have a very formidable opponent ahead of them. We haven't done well against West Ham this season, so it will be difficult to defeat them. A hopeful Arteta remarked, "I'm sure they're going to be very at it and hopefully they can help us to achieve our dream."

Guardiola does not anticipate that Arsenal, who finished second in the previous season, would falter when they play Everton at home.

"At that point, we control our own fate. However, Guardiola stated, "You are incorrect if you are hoping for them to give up points once more.

Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has asked his colleagues to control their emotions on game day. "We must put ourselves first; we cannot become overly attached to anything... We need to prevail in that; that is our responsibility.

While the task is evident, the result is not. Will the City take the lead? Or is the story taking a turn?
