Following accusations that the team had violated Premier League spending regulations, manager Sean Dyche said on Tuesday that Everton had made errors but had taken corrective action.

Due to the new allegations filed on Monday, the Merseyside club, which has appealed against a previous 10-point punishment from earlier in the season, may be subject to a second points penalty.

Before Wednesday's FA Cup third-round replay against Crystal Palace, Dyche told reporters, "Certainly in the recent stats and facts I think we are in the bottom three or four net spends in the last three or four seasons."

"So, the club has made a move to start doing things right. I'm sure there have been errors throughout the years, but that's just part of playing football. There is no precise science to it.

The team has been "cutting resources," according to Dyche, in order to follow league regulations.

We have allowed players to terminate their contracts while I have been here. We have been putting forth a lot of effort. In order to ensure that the money arrived, we sold three young players within the deadlines that we were given," he stated.

Everton's manager said that the team will continue to concentrate on their appeal against the 10-point punishment.

"We've been cutting the idea of being on-pitch powerful by resources to do the right thing... it's a strange situation," Dyche said. "It's an on-pitch sanction."

Not only myself, I believe, was taken aback.

"It will take time to see the outcome of the appeal, as the media and pundits were taken aback."

With 21 games played and 17 points, Everton is only one point above the relegation zone in the league.
