In their Women's Premier League encounter here on Friday, UP Warriorz easily defeated Gujarat Giants by six wickets thanks to a strong fifty from Grace Harris.

Warriorz's captain Alyssa Healy (33, 21 balls, 7x4) and Harris (60 not out, 33 balls, 9x4, 2x6) assisted in helping the team chase down a target of 143 in 15.4 overs for their second victory of the competition.

Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone (3/20) took advantage of a difficult surface to limit the Giants to 142/5. Harris added the last details.

The Warriorz scored 33 in only three overs when the small Australian Harris hit bowler Meghana Singh for three consecutive fours in the third over. They subsequently surged to 69/2 in the Powerplay phase.

After Healy, Chamari Athapaththu, and Shweta Sehrawat were dismissed, the Giants attempted a rally, bringing the Warriorz down to 90/4 in the eleventh over. To shut out the Giants, Harris and Deepti Sharma (17 not out) raced down the last 53 runs in only 30 balls.

The Giants had earlier gotten as high as 41/1 on the Powerplay but then fell behind. Their total was increased by a 52-run partnership between Ashleigh Gardner (30) and Phoebe Litchfield (35) but it was insufficient.

Brief scores: Phoebe Litchfield 35, Sophie Ecclestone 3/20, Gujarat Giants 142/5 in 20 overs. UP Warriorz 143/4 in 15.4 overs (Alyssa Healy 33, Grace Harris 60 n.o.). Warriorz prevailed by six wickets.
