In their Super Six match on Tuesday, India's colts thrashed New Zealand by 214 runs thanks to Musheer Khan's second century of the ICC U-19 World Cup.

Before left-arm spinner Saumy Pandey (4/19) and pacer Raj Limbani (2/17) tore apart New Zealand's top order to bowl them out for a meager 81 in 28.1 overs in Bloemfontein, top performer Musheer's 131 was supported by opener Adarsh Singh's 52.

To guarantee that India had the upper hand, Limbani scored on the first and fifth balls of the New Zealand innings.

With the India U-19 squad seemingly the favorites to win the competition, New Zealand was unable to mount a meaningful recovery after falling down at 27/4 in the Powerplay.

India has won five championships in the competition, including the two most recent ones in 2018 and 2022.

In terms of runs scored, Tuesday's 81 was New Zealand's third-heaviest loss in the U-19 World Cup. It was also their third-lowest total.

Earlier in the day, Musheer, the brother of Sarfaraz Khan, shredded the New Zealand assault with his second century of the competition. He tore through the Kiwis' bowling lineup on a brilliant batting pitch at the Mangaung Oval, surpassing Pakistan's Shahzaib Khan to become the first hitter in the current championship to score more than 300 runs.

Man of the Match Musheer hit 13 fours and three sixes on way to his 131 off 126 balls.

The 18-year-old was always busy at the crease, driving on from one end and launching strokes in all directions after starting with an upper-cut for a four. After an early blow to India, he and Adarsh did a great rescue job with a 77-run partnership for the second wicket.

As he looked terrific driving on the rise and played the pull shot with skill, Adarsh assumed responsibility for attacking the bowlers.

It was only unfortunate that when Zac Cumming (1/37) taunted him with one outside off, he didn't maintain a drive in control.

Uday Saharan, the captain of India, was also let down as he failed to convert his start and was out for 35. Nevertheless, he did a great job of anchoring the innings, sharing a stand of 87 with Musheer that turned out to be the highest scoring partnership for India throughout this match.

Brief results: Muşheer Khan (131, Adarsh Singh (52) and Uday Saharan (35), India U-19 295/8 in 50 overs; Mason Clarke 4/64) NZ U-19 81 in 28.1 overs (Oscar Jackson 19; Raj Limbani 2/17, Saumy Pandey 4/19). India prevailed by 214 runs.
