ITBP Establishing Over 50 New Border Outposts Along China Border

According to sources in the border guarding force, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is erecting more than fifty new border checkpoints along the China border, spanning from Jachep La in Arunachal Pradesh to Karakoram pass in Ladakh.

More than fifty new border outposts are being established by the ITBP along the Line of Actual Control. An ITBP officer said, "The decision has been made to strengthen our strength at the China border.

The Center had authorized the creation of seven additional ITBP battalions, totaling 9,400 members, earlier this year for deployment.

The official said, "Out of the seven battalions, four are almost ready for deployment and will be stationed at the new border outposts."

The 3,488-kilometer China border, which passes through Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, is guarded by ITBP.

The ground situation along the LAC, where Chinese forces are said to have established frontline positions in numerous critical zones and are also stepping up infrastructure, was reportedly taken into consideration when the decision to establish additional outposts was made, according to sources.

According to sources, Chinese forces are continually stepping up their troop levels and displaying blatant hostility along the Line of Actual Control in the Arunachal Pradesh-Sikkim region. Around 500 PLA (People's Liberation Army) soldiers are said to have crossed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh in December and damaged Indian military positions. This allegedly sparked a skirmish between the two armies at an elevation of 17,000 feet in Tawang's Yangtze.

As the border standoff between India and China enters its fourth straight winter, sources in the security establishment have highlighted worries about the PLA's massive build-up along the LAC in eastern Ladakh and their similar level of infrastructure development.

The 20th round of military negotiations between the two nations has now ended without any progress.
