Iyer Loses Temper at Press Conference Over Short-Ball Questions
Shreyas Iyer.

Shreyas Iyer lost his temper during the Thursday post-match media conference when he was questioned about how he handled the short deliveries.

India amassed 357/8 thanks to Iyer's 82 off 56 balls, but the Sri Lankan pacers gave him little chance to score.

"What do you mean when you say it's a problem for me?" Iyer shot back. "Has it bothered me? Do you know how many goals I've scored with pull shots? in particular, which has lasted for four?

"You're going to get out regardless of how hard you try to hit the ball. Regardless of whether it's overpitch or a short ball. It would be assumed by all of you that he is incapable of playing an in-swinging ball if I was bowled two or three times.

As players, we are obligated to participate in deliveries of any kind. He is unable to play short balls because of the environment you guys have created outside. Iyer became enraged and said, "And I feel like people are picking that up every now and then. It plays on your mind regularly and you keep working on that."

"I know how to tackle it coming from Mumbai, especially after playing at the Wankhede where the bounce is pretty much even."
