Jagdeep Dhankhar's frequent trips to Rajasthan spark row, Ashok Gehlot questions his motives

In the lead-up to the year-end Assembly elections, Jagdeep Dhankhar has made several trips to the state. Rajasthan's chief minister, Ashok Gehlot, has voiced his displeasure, stating "people understand why the Vice-President is coming here again and again" and "they will give a befitting reply."

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established a precedent by spearheading his party's campaign in the states, constitutional positions like the Vice-President have not yet been utilized for electioneering, except from deploying important cabinet members for micromanagement. Prior to this, no chief minister had suggested that the vice president was campaigning for a political party.

The vice president is rising and falling, said Gehlot. He will use a helicopter to travel to five locations today. We respect everyone, vice president or governor included. The vice president claims that since Rajasthan is where I was born, there is no need to greet me according to etiquette. Even if the vice president is elected president, we will still respect him. Please spare us now, Lekin kripa karke abhi meharbani rakhen.

Gehlot continued, "Abhi jo baar baar subah sham aa rahe hain, daure kar rahe hain, koi tuk nahin hai. The Vice-President's position is a constitutional one and cannot be connected to any party or government. How are you?"

Rajasthan ke andar Chunav chal rahe hain, aap baar baar aaoge, kya log samjhenge aapke baare mein? You keep showing up both in the morning and in the evening, Ap Chaahte Kya Ho. What is the justification? None. If you go around the state so frequently during elections, what will people think of you? What do you intend to do?

The former Congressman argued that he had never treated those in constitutional positions unfairly and recounted how he warmly greeted former BJP leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat when he was appointed vice president under Atal Bihari Vajpayee. People understand why the Vice President keeps coming here, Gehlot continued, clearly enraged. They'll respond appropriately.

Gehlot's annoyance is justified given that the Vice-President's statements and frequency of visits have both exposed a blatant partisan agenda. Many people are not convinced by Dhankhar's claim that Rajasthan is where he was born, despite the fact that he has been travelling the state and keeping a busy schedule of public appearances. The regional media is analyzing how his visits may influence Jat voters to support the BJP.

Dhankhar visited Rajasthan on August 27, September 4, 5, 12, 14, 23, and 27 during the course of the previous 30 days. In Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Bharatpur, Tonk, Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, and Bikaner, among other cities, he has spoken at numerous government events. He is the primary campaigner, according to Congress leaders, and he is more involved than any other prominent campaigner.

The tone and content of Dhankhar's speeches support the claims made regarding his involvement in politics. He referred to the women's reservation measure that was approved by Parliament on Wednesday as a game-changer. Given that the Opposition has accused the Modi government of delaying its implementation by several years by linking it to the census and delimitation, this has come across to many as a blatantly biased position.

According to Dhankhar, "power corridors have been totally neutralised of power brokers in the last 10 years," and "corruption is a killer of growth and democracy." He urged people to vigorously combat any discourse that denigrates, tars, or weakens institutions and is anti-India. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, has frequently been targeted by the BJP for claiming that India's institutions have been weakened and are under control.

Dhankhar credited the Prime Minister for the Chandrayaan-3 mission's success during one of his contacts with kids in Kota because Modi had stood with scientists like a rock following the failure of Chandrayaan-2.

"You are fortunate children of Bharat because you are living at a time when the ecosystem is supporting you to fully exploit your talent, your energy, or your potential to accomplish your dreams and aspirations," Dhankhar addressed the kids on September 5. Earlier, this was not the case. The revolution of India has the entire globe in awe and confusion.

He asserted that there was a time when taking time off to pay bills was necessary, but that is no longer the case because technology now drives such services. This wasn't something that just happened; the government put in place a complex infrastructure.

The Vice-President's statements resemble a political theme; he claims that people in India are living in "Amrit Kaal," talks about how Manmohan Singh's administration placed the Indian economy in the "Fragile Five," claims that thugs and power brokers controlled previous administrations, and claims that there was "extra-legal leveraging in decision-making," which may be a reference to Sonia Gandhi's alleged influence at the time. Dhankhar asserts that the system's "ills" have all been resolved.

The Vice President is open about his rants about the opposition. He had stated in a lecture that if someone receives an ED, CBI, or income tax notification, they will protest outside. Ist das richtig? Go to court and ask for help. How can we put up with it?

Additionally, he alluded to the commotion in Parliament and denounced cash-transfer social programs, which Modi has been disparaging as "revri," or freebies, in his attacks on the Opposition.
