Kumaraswamy Casts Doubt on Congress’ Bid for Central Power

JD(S) Chief Kumaraswamy Is Doubtful Congress Will Establish Central Government

Following the outcome of the most recent Lok Sabha election, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy voiced doubts in a statement over the Congress party's capacity to form a government at the Center. The BJP secured 240 seats while the Congress secured 99, according to the results released by the Election Commission of India for 542 out of 543 constituencies.

Answering inquiries over Congress's attempts to form the government, Kumaraswamy said, "Nothing will happen." He was scheduled to attend a meeting of NDA constituents in New Delhi. Along with Kolar's Mallesh Babu, the JD(S) leader won the election as an NDA candidate from Mandya. They emphasized the NDA's impressive showing in Karnataka, where it won 19 of the state's 28 Lok Sabha seats. Just the BJP secured 17 seats, with JD(S) securing 2.

The results indicate a substantial change from the 2019 elections, in which the Congress only won one seat and the BJP, with the backing of an independent candidate, gained 25 seats. With the victory of nine seats, the Congress has strengthened its position in Karnataka this time.

The political forces at work as parties evaluate the post-election environment and plan their next steps in the formation of the government are reflected in Kumaraswamy's remarks.
