New Delhi-Balurghat Direct Train Service Begins Monday

Starting on Monday, residents of South Dinajpur may take a direct train to Delhi.

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) said on Sunday that the Farakka Express, which formerly ran via Delhi between Malda Town and Bhatinda in Punjab, would henceforth travel to Balurghat starting on Monday, April 15.

Every day around five o'clock in the evening, the train will leave Balurghat, according to NFR sources. It will also stop at the stations in the district at Eklakhi and Buniadpur. It will make stops at a number of notable stations along the way, including Delhi.

A railway official said, "It will take about 36 hours to reach Delhi and 42 hours to reach Bhatinda."

During his campaign, the party's second nominee for Balurghat MP, Sukanta Majumdar, is emphasizing the enhancement of rail connection.

The expansion of the rail service to Balurghat, the site of the next elections on April 26, was criticized by Trinamul officials as a flagrant violation of the model code of behavior that is now in place.
