Oscar-Winning Directors Daniels Set to Unveil Untitled Event Film with Universal Pictures
Highly Anticipated Project Scheduled for Theatrical Release in June 2026
Variety, a US-based entertainment magazine, revealed on March 1 that Oscar-winning filmmakers Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, often known as Daniels, have joined up with production firm Universal Pictures for their next movie, which is set for a June 12, 2026, theatrical release.
According to Variety, Universal Pictures, which recently inked an exclusive first-look contract with the filmmakers, has scheduled the June 12, 2026, release of a "untitled event film directed by Daniels" in addition to other films.
After receiving Grammy nominations for their music videos for DJ Snake's Turn Down for What (2013) and Foster the People's Houdini (2012), Kwan and Scheinert decided to pursue a career in cinema.
The sci-fi, adventure, comedy Everything Everywhere All at Once, directed by the team, debuted in 2022 and broke the USD 100 million mark at the worldwide box office, making it the first independent film to do so since the epidemic.
Michelle Yeoh plays Chinese-American immigrant Evelyn Quan Wang in the film. Evelyn discovers during an IRS audit that in order to stop a powerful force from wiping out the cosmos, she has to make connections with other versions of herself in different realities.
At the 95th annual Academy Awards in March of last year, Everything Everywhere All at Once, which was financially supported by the independent film business A24, took home seven Oscars. In supporting roles in the movie are Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., and James Hong.
As of right now, nothing is known about Kwan and Scheinert's next film project. The movie's actors, premise, and title are all yet unknown.
