Videos posted on Thursday by the Women's Premier League (WPL) official Instagram page reveal how Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor inspired the female cricket players of the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians before they performed dance routines during the practice for the WPL opening ceremony.
In the first video, Shah Rukh, dressed in a white full-sleeved t-shirt and camouflage pants, stunned the young cricket players with his trademark arms-stretched gesture. The Jawan actor touched the girls on the head, blessing them for their next battle, and the girls could not contain their joy.
Along with Sourav Ganguly, the current director of cricket for the Delhi Capitals, Shah Rukh also had a meeting with the former Indian cricket player.
"King Khan @iamsrk at the nets is a sight to behold! The @mumbaiindians and @delhicapitals had a surprise visitor and they surely couldn't hold back their excitement," the WPL committee said as the description for the video.

In the second video, Shahid—who is now starring with Kriti Sanon in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya—enters the stadium and expresses his passion for cricket to the cricket players. "When I was little, I wanted to play cricket. I get very excited when I visit a stadium. In the video, he said, "I feel like a child getting to visit a candy shop.
In addition, the 42-year-old actor remembers being asked whether women play cricket in the same way as males by his daughter Misha. She's very athletic. She wanted to compete with my kid since he loves cricket. I showed her a few of the matches and informed her that females are excellent cricket players," he added, adding that he would watch WPL games at home with his kids.
Tiger Shroff, Kartik Aaryan, Sidharth Malhotra, and Shah Rukh are among the performers scheduled to appear at this year's WPL opening ceremony. After a star-studded opening ceremony, the second edition of the league, which began play in March 2023, will begin play on February 23 at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
