Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan Tops Box Office on National Cinema Day
Fukrey 3 and Mission Raniganj Follow Closely Behind
According to trade reports, Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan was the most popular pick for moviegoers on National Cinema Day, earning approximately Rs 5.5 crore on its sixth Friday in theaters.
With a gross of Rs 5.25 crore nett, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba's comedy-drama Fukrey 3 came in second place to the Atlee-directed actioner. On that day, Mission Raniganj, starring Akshay Kumar, made about Rs 4.75 crore nett.
PVR-INOX and Cinepolis, two of the three major national theater chains, chose Jawan as their top choice, while other chains and single-screen theaters preferred Fukrey 3. Fukrey 3 made Rs 2.8 crore nett while Jawan made Rs 3.1 crore nett at PVR-Inox and Cinepolis. At these theaters, Mission Raniganj generated about Rs 2.60 crore in nett revenue.
Fukrey 3 appeared as the audience's top pick in theater chains including MovieMax and Rajhans, followed by Jawan and Mission Raniganj.
In just 38 days, Jawan, a movie with significant roles for Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, has earned almost Rs 635 crore net in India, of which Rs 575 crore net came from the Hindi version and Rs 60 crore net from the Tamil and Telugu versions.
Varun Sharma, Pulkit Samrat, Pankaj Tripathi, Richa Chadha, and Manjot Singh are among the cast members of Fukrey 3, which has amassed Rs 86.54 crore nett in 16 days. This surpasses the lifetime receipts of Fukrey Returns, which had brought in Rs 80 crore nett in India.
Mission Raniganj, starring Akshay Kumar, ended its eighth day in theaters with a nett revenue of Rs 22.75 crore. Thank You For Coming, starring Bhumi Pednekar and released with Mission Raniganj, made Rs 0.75 crore nett on National Cinema Day, bringing its total earnings to Rs 5.70 crore nett.
Dhak Dhak, which debuted in theaters on October 13 and starred Ratna Pathak Shah and Dia Mirza, struggled to entice crowds and only made Rs 0.40 crore nett on opening day.
